internal controls on most visitors, such as registration with local authorities etc
There are two broad categories of U.S. visas:
1. Immigrant visas:
For those intending to reside permanently in the United States.Generally to qualify for Legal Permanent Residency (LPR) status, commonly known in the United States as a ‘Green Card’, nomination is required. Nomination may
be by a relative or employer and in rare cases by oneself.

There are essentially two main classes you can apply under for LPR i.e. Employer Nomination and Family Nomination. Both classes require a multi step application process:
2. Nonimmigrant Visas
There are more than twenty-five general categories of nonimmigrant visas. Most are targeted at a person's particular purpose in visiting the U.S. and the terms of
those visas will vary according to the category.
Every year thousands of people apply for different
categories of US visa, like US work visa, US immigration
visa, US visitor visa or US student visa. Recently, the US
like many other countries has updated visa policies to increase security for citizens and visitors.
